More street trouble round the station than there was
This is the thing residents and people who work nearby raise most. Begging, street drinking and open drug use around Victoria Street, Grosvenor Gardens and the coach station have grown noticeably over the past couple of years, and several women describe changing their route home. Being stopped for money right outside the station, sometimes with a rehearsed story about a missed train, is routine.
“I work near Victoria and the number of incidents are definitely increasing. Now often people are kicking off at 7am.”on r/london, Aug 2026
Belgravia is spotless and empty at any hour
People who have lived in or run through Belgravia describe streets that stay clean and quiet whether it is nine in the morning or nine at night. One long-term neighbour calls it sterile. Others say it never feels like a neighbourhood you belong to, and the nickname that keeps coming back is Belgraveyard.
“Belgravia is quite boring and seems dead which is why I call it Belgraveyard!”on r/london, Sep 2026
You can get almost anywhere, if you can face the crowd
Victoria mainline covers Gatwick, Brighton and most of Kent and Sussex, with the Victoria, Circle and District lines underneath and the coach station next door. Commuters rate the Victoria line highly for how often trains come. The catch is the crush at the tube entrance at rush hour, and the fact that deeper into Belgravia the nearest station is a proper walk.
“Victoria line is the best line, rarely down and during rush hour it’s literally every minute”on r/MovingToLondon, Apr 2026
Coaches, buses and a station that barely shuts
The flats along Buckingham Palace Road and Victoria Street sit between a coach station and a bus interchange that run from before six in the morning until late. People report street noise starting around seven, and Grosvenor Gardens has traffic on three sides of it.
“Victoria Coach Station seems to be a hub for the homeless. Was there a couple weeks ago, early hours and it was not pleasant.”on r/london, Aug 2026
Belgravia sets the price and the price is silly
SW1W takes in both the Belgravia garden squares and the ordinary flats behind Victoria Street, so asking rents run very wide and the top end drags the average up. People who want the location without the number keep being told to look one postcode south in Pimlico, where the same walk to work costs a lot less.
