Residents describe streets that empty out in the evening. Several call it dull in a way they like, and a few students say they would rather be further east if they wanted things to do on a Friday.

The side streets are quiet, but Vauxhall Bridge Road carries traffic through the night and people who have lived on it name it as the one thing they would change. Grosvenor Road along the river is the same.

Long-term residents keep saying the same thing: they still walk home alone, but street drinking and open drug use around Victoria station, Vauxhall Bridge Road and the Tatchbrook Street end have grown over the past year. Further south towards the river people report no change.

Pimlico station puts you on the Victoria line with no changes to Victoria, Euston and King's Cross, and most of the area is a ten to fifteen minute walk from Victoria mainline. People commuting to UCL and the West End say twenty to thirty minutes door to door, or a walk on a good day.

Pimlico sits next to Belgravia and Chelsea and costs noticeably less. The reason people give is the housing mix: large estates like Churchill Gardens and the Peabody blocks off Vauxhall Bridge Road sit in among the stucco terraces, so the average asking price lands well below Mayfair or Sloane Square.

For central London this is unusual: a weekday street market on Tachbrook Street, small restaurants along Warwick Way, and a large Sainsbury's on Wilton Road. People who moved away mention the everyday shopping more than any restaurant.

Pimlico is the residential bit of SW1, a grid of white stucco terraces between Victoria station and the river. People who live there like how central it is and how little happens on their own street. The complaint that comes up most often now is what the streets closer to Victoria have been like over the past year.
